          Mixed Master Camp: Jan 25-27

The three-day camp is focused on introducing participants to the art of mixed climbing. The camp is ideal for novice to even advanced climbers. No ice climbing experience is necessary but it helps if you have rock climbed before. We will dive into the three main categories that any climber must master: hazard management, movement skills and technical systems. Hazards are even more pronounced when mixed climbing so we will learn how to identify and mitigate them. We will spend much time dialling in movement skills including drytooling, twist locking, advanced ice features and resting/recovering. There will be an emphasis on putting all these skills together to learn how to lead safely on your own, whether that be actual leading or setting up top ropes in order to gain more experience.

$500 CND plus 5% GST. Contact to register.

          Ice Leader Camp: Feb 14-18

The week is focused on helping novice and intermediate ice climbers gain skills and expereince to set themselves up to have a safe and fun winter of ice climbing. Even advanced climbers will garner much knowledge from the week by learning new tricks and breaking old bad habits. We will dive into the three main categories that any climber must master: hazard management, movement skills and technical systems. You will learn to recognize and mitigate the numerous and various threats to an ice climber. We will spend much time dialling in movement skills since that is the foundation of solid and secure leading. As for technical systems, we will look at different ice anchors, rappel systems and back-ups, improvised rescue tricks, multi-pitch efficiency and fixed-point lead belays. There will be an emphasis on putting all these skills together to learn how to lead safely on your own, whether that be actual leading or setting up top ropes in order to gain more experience.
